Special instructions

Each item is unique and has special characteristics.  You will find instructions for your fabulous handmade piece below! 
General care for handmade pottery 
Your piece is one of a kind, just like you! Each piece is made by me from start to finish. (unless I can get my husband to help with the glazing ;)

1. Never put boiling/super duper hot water into a cold vessel. This can cause thermal shock and cause cracks/breakage. If your house is cold or you've removed a vessel from a cold place, run it under the hot tap for a bit first.
2. The same goes for pulling something straight out of the dishwasher, oven or microwave, but in reverse ;) Don't put cold things into a hot vessel.
3.  Always remove a hot pot from the microwave by the handle or with an oven mit, etc. Ceramic is a great conductor, and will transfer heat.
4.  Unless otherwise noted, (or with fine sculptural details) my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.
5.  Always warm pottery like pie plates, casseroles, etc. in the oven gradually, letting it preheat with the oven (again with that pesky thermal shock.)
6.  Always bring in ceramic pieces from the outdoors when the weather freezes. Freezing and thawing of water can cause cracks and breakage.
Brown Sugar Button
Simply soak your terra cotta button in water
for 10-20 minutes. Place in a sealed bag
with fresh cookies, bread, or brown sugar.
The button will keep your cookies and bread moist,
your brown sugar from clumping.


Want to keep crackers and rice dry?
Place it in the container after baking
in the oven on the lowest setting for about 15 minutes.
The button will absorb any unwanted moisture.
Dry or moisten as needed.
Want to sanitize? I've run mine through the dishwasher.
Alternately, you can pour boiling water on your piece.

Bodice chiller
How to care for your fabulous bodice chiller :

Fill with ice and replace cork.
Tuck in your bra (sports type without cups,) or bodice, right on your sternum. Refill with fresh ice as needed.

Do not freeze.
Let cork dry thoroughly between uses.

Pour over coffee maker
​Pour over coffee maker
Use a number 2 cone coffee filter or reusable filter.
  1. Place the amount of coffee you wish to brew into the filter.
  2. Heat your water to a bit below boiling.
  3. Place your coffee maker on top of your favorite mug.
  4. Slowly pour just enough water in to wet your grounds and bubble up. This is called “blooming.” It helps remove bitter taste.
  5. After this water has brewed through, slowly pour more water into your coffee maker. You should see it appear foamy or creamy as it fills the reservoir.
  6. Let drip into your mug and dress your coffee up to suit your taste! You can brew as much or little as you wish. You will simply need to put the appropriate amount of grounds in and you may need to fill the reservoir more than once if you are brewing a large amount of coffee.

Aromatherapy finger labyrinth
This finger labyrinth is made from terra cotta and sanded for a nice feel. Place a few drops of your favorite essential oil (or blend) on the surface. Use your finger to trace the labyrinth for meditation or calming as many times as you feel is needed. Keep in a room for continued fragrance dispersion.
